Who’s ready for fall drinks?! While everyone’s thinking about what to make for Thanksgiving, I’m thinking about how many fall drinks I can stuff before the season is over! What better way to start than with a spiked chai tea latte recipe?!
Now we could go to Starbucks… But don’t you sometimes get lazy to leave the house or make an extra stop on your way back home? Sometimes, the laziest way is to just make them at home. And it’s even better if it’s just as delicious!
Or rather… better if it has alcohol!
So call your friends because it’s time for a happy hour at home! (What better time to start your own mini bar…)
Let’s get to the recipe, shall we?
Chai Tea
Mhm… the star of our recipe.
Want to make chai tea from scratch? Take 1/2 tsp of ground cardamom, ground ginger, fennel, ginger, and black pepper and add it to your black tea. This makes about 12oz to 16oz. But if you’re lazy like me, you can just buy tea bags. 🙂
Spiced Rum
Chai tea is full of spices! so it only makes sense to call for spiced rum. Who doesn’t love adding rum to anything? Besides vodka, it’s probably my next favorite if I’m adding alcohol to any drink.
How to Froth Milk (Different Ways to Froth Milk)
This is probably the trickiest part of the recipe. Yeah, I know… Not everyone has a frother. And honestly, I wouldn’t have one too if my roommates weren’t coffee addicts. There are ways to froth milk without a fancy espresso machine. The easiest choice is to grab yourself a frothing wand. It’s tiny and cheap. OR you can get creative by using a blender, immersion blender, electric mixer, or even a french press (pump repeatedly for 10 seconds). Have any other ideas? Leave a comment below!
Serving Size (and ingredient amounts)
I personally think this recipe is good for one! But you’re making about 16oz?! Yes, worth!! If not, you can cut it in half. But I think it works well considering you’re using 1 shot of rum for 2 cups. As for honey, I put 2 tbsp, but if you’re more of a sweet tooth, you can add more. Some people like to add lemon, but it didn’t seem necessary (hello, one less ingredient!).
By the way, if you had to choose– chai tea or pumpkin spice latte? Let me know! 🙂
