Homes feel like they never stay clean. We spend hours of cleaning for what seems like no reason because of how quickly mess reappears! Instead of trying to make sure that everything is spotless, I concentrate my time on 5 key areas. Ready to get your house in order? These are my tips for keeping your home clean on a daily basis.
1. Make Your Bed
I hate making my bed. In fact, I almost never do. But whether it’s for guests or wanting to come home from a long trip to a clean home, making the bed makes a vast difference.
Beds are the focal point of the room. And when it’s not made, it can make the room feel unkempt. Just this small change will make you feel like your room is a much tidier place.
2. Clean the Dishes
Make sure to clean the dishes well. Not only does a shiny sink feel utterly satisfying, but it prevents a buildup of dishes that feel like forever to clean. And the longer it sits, the more likely it’s going to smell. Nobody wants to wake up to a foul stench first thing in the morning.
3. Wipe Counters/Surfaces
After dinner, make sure to wipe the counters, stove, and dining table clean. You don’t have to scrub like there’s no tomorrow. And if you do this daily, you won’t need to either. By doing this daily, this chore will only take about a minute to do.
4. Get Rid of Clutter on Counters & Floors
Clutter builds up fast. And the sooner you tackle it, the less stressful it is. Concentrate on “catch-all” areas, the areas that where you drop stuff without an extra thought and not knowing where to put them.
Dusting is one of my least favorite chores, but a pileup of dust on any surface just feels like you didn’t clean your home. By making the effort to dust your surfaces, your home will feel tidier already.
We spend hours and hours cleaning our homes only for it to get messy again. It’s exhausting. And whether we have the time for it or now, we’d rather be devoting our time to something else. Choosing these 5 essential tasks will make it easier for you to keep a tidy home daily.
